Critical Review of Modern Garhwali Short Stories -171
Analysis of Garhwali short story ‘Bheentaun ki Ag’
Critical Review for Garhwali Mahesha Nand’s Short Stories -9
         Literature Historian: @ Bhishma Kukreti
The present Garhwali tells about children making mischief especially putting fire on ‘Busad’, or forest. As the main character of story Bheentaun ki Ag , many children get excitement, thrill or pleasure by putting fire on dry weeds and weeds on the contour farm walls.      This author also in his childhood once put on fire on forest (saved immediately) and in a group burnt a cattle shade.
The story is simple that a child used to get excitement, pleasure on burning weeds and thrilled by weed burning sound. Once while he was busy in putting fire on weeds piles (Ad) , by his mistake, his ‘Busud’, ‘Palkhunda’ (dry grass piles) got fire and all grass bundles got burnt. In saving grass bundles, his mother got burns. His mother was weeping by grass losses and he was weeping burns on her mother’s hands.
Most of children from Garhwal village experience putting fire on weeds plies and many times fire on forest or something else. Mahesha Nand narrated the enjoyment; excitement and thrill in putting fire and weeds burning sound.
Mahesha Nand is successful in creating images of child’s excitement. Mahesha created interest in the story till end. Mahesha Nand shows rural Garhwal daily life in simplistic way and readers get enjoyment. The language and narration style is as per  Mahesha Nand trade mark.
Readers will enjoy mischief of a child in putting fire on ‘Busud or grass piles.
