9 British Provisions for Sugauli Treaty

        The Sugauli Treaty Letter signed by Governor General was having 9 Provisions as follows –
1-There would be permanent treaty between Honorable East India Company and Nepal
2- Nepal declares leaving the rights on disputed land before the war and accepts the rights of East India Company on those regions.
3- Nepal King hands over the following land forever to east India Company-
1st - The plain land between Kali and Rapti Rivers
2nd  The land between Rapti and Gandak Rivers
3rd  – Whole plain land between Gandak and Kupta Rivers
4th  – Whole plain land between Meechi and Tista Rivers
5th – The fort of Nagari and hill regions of Meechi River, the ports of Nagar Kot towards morang Hill will be under British. The Gurkha soldiers have to vacate those regions within 40 days.
4- Gurkha Sardar and Bhardar will get pension due to above region coming under British territory. British would pay pension annually rupees two lakhs. Nepal King will submit the names of Bhardar and Sardar and pension amount. As soon as the King submit the names and amount Governor General would sign that paper and would be sent to those personnel.
5- Nepal King and his family will leave all rights on the territories of west of Kali River forever. The King will offer in writing that he will not have any relation with west of Kali River.
6-Nepal King will not make any loss to the territory under Sikkim King. In case of dispute between Sikkim King and Nepal King or subjects the decision of British will be final and Nepal would abide the decision.
7- Nepal King assured in writing that Nepal Kingdom will not offer service /employment to British, Indian and European without permission of British.
8- Both the parties will keep Advocate in courts of  both the parties.
9- There are nine sections on this Treaty. Nepal King will hand over his acceptance to Lieutenant Colonel Bradshaw within 15 days. Bradshaw will send the acceptance to Governor General and the acceptance of Governor General would be handed over to Nepal king by Bradshaw.
       Bradshaw handed over the letter with stamp to Chandrasekhar Upadhyaya on 2nd December 1815.  Upadhyaya handed over acceptance letter of Nepal with sign and stamp to Ochterlony on 4th March 1816 in Makwanpur. Ochterlony handed over the acceptance letter duly signed and stamp of Governor General to Upadhyaya.
