The news of British Army failures in Nalapani and Jaithak/Jaithok reached to Kolkata, Delhi and other places. The British officers felt extreme hopelessness. Especially the Muslim soldiers of British army thought that coming days for British are adverse. The Delhi resident officer Metcalf wrote on 15thJanuary 1815-
“We are encountering such an army that has more bravery, courage and firmness than us. A few Gurkha soldiers forced European soldiers just by mere swords and wooden rods. In recent campaign we lost soldiers and more guns than dead soldiers. It seems the situation for Kingdom is unstable. I am sure that the days are started for declining of British Kingdom. I am painful for stating that though the numbers of soldiers are more with us than Gurkha armies but battle tactics and bravery are with Gurkha. One third of army led by Gillespie and Martindale is killed in Nalasopara and Jaithaik/Jaithok battles. “
Now doubt, numbers of Gurkha soldiers were decreasing and enthusiasm in British army was down.
