History of Garhwal including Haridwar (1223- 1804 AD) –part -220
History of Uttarakhand (Garhwal, Kumaon and Haridwar) -468
By: Bhishma Kukreti (A History Research Student)

Initially till thirteen century, in Tibet, the political situation was same as of Garhwal. There were tens of Chieftains (Garhpati) who were ruling tinny area. Daba Gadhi was behind Janskar Hills adjacent North  to Garhwal.
Till Garhwal Kingdom was not established by Pal Kings and there were Garhpati in Garhwal, the chieftains and looters from Tibet used to attack on Bhotantik regions (Neeti to Mana) of Garhwal. Those looters and chieftains used to loot grains, animals and women from Garhwal. There is no authentic records of Tibet capturing, ruling north regions of Garhwal but still today, China had opposite perception about bordering line.
In Manshah time, Jeetu Bagdwal was regional commander /officer of Neeti valley and people worship Jeetu Bagdwal as Bhad Gramdevta (village deity).
The letter of Father Andrede states that the Sarswati valley or Mana valley was under the rule of Shyamshah(1624)
The geographical situation of bordering region of Daba (Tibet) and Garhwal (India) is such that neither Garhwal could capture Daba permanently nor it was possible for Daba Kings to rule over Mana –Neeti valley.
Though, army of Shyamshah captured Daba but could not stay there in winter season. Garhwal chief of army Madho Singh Bhandari erected terraces for marking the bordering line between Daba and Garhwal. Fateshah also attacked on Daba.
There were wars between Garhwal and Daba (Tibet, China). However, the export and import business was continuous between Daba and Garhwal till 1962.
