History of Garhwal King Man Shah Army Capturing and Looting Nagina (Part of Kumaon Kingdom)

History of Garhwal including Haridwar (1223- 1804 AD) –part -105

History of Uttarakhand (Garhwal, Kumaon and Haridwar) -351

ByBhishma Kukreti (A History Research Student)

Kumaon Historian Badri Datt Pande states that Nagina region (Tehsil of present Bijnor district, Uttar Pradesh) was under Kumaon Chand King Rudrachandra Rule. Aine-e-Akbari mentions about Nagina. It seems Mughal emperor returned Nagina region back to Kumaon Chand King after Kumaon King’s Lahore trip for helping Mogul Emperor.
Historian Raturi states that Garhwal Kingdom army captured Nagina and looted there. When Garhwal King Man Shah sent his army led by Nandi to capture Champawat, Man Shah also departed his one brigade to Bhabhar of Kumaon region. Nagina was just near to Garhwal Bhabhar. Garhwal army captured Nagal, Bundaki, Kiratpur,Mandawar, Barhapur, Nahtaur and Nagina. Garhwal army looted the region Nagina. Historically, it is not sure whether Garhwal army stayed for long in Nagina (Bijnor) or just looted and returned to Garhwal Bhabhar. History does not find records of whether Mogul Emperor Akbar or Rudrachandra was collecting taxes from Nagina region. Nagina and Bijnor are ignored by historians for writing chronological history of this region.
It is believed that Syend Ghalib Ali got Nagina as Jagir from Mogul Empire.  It is not clear when Syed Ghalib Ali got Jagir of Nagina from Mughal Emperor.
