Nyo Nisab: Garhwali Story finding Reasons for Migration from Rural Regions
The story of ‘Nyo Nisab’ is that in a village a poor person struggle for living and by any means he lives in village. A poor or rich person requires s marriage. In old time men had to pay dowry to r girl side for marrying .The poor person had to borrow money for marrying a girl that he may live together with his beloved wife. However, to return back the debt the poor man had to leave village for city. The man had to work on daily wages for building construction or road construction for earning money. He took money from money lenders that he could get company of his wife but to return back money he had leave his wife and had to migrate.
Dr Dabral states that the story ‘Nyo Nisab’ is influenced by Prem Chand era and all characteristics of stories of Perm Chand era are there in ‘Nyo Nisab’. The story line of ‘Nyo Nisab’ is similar to ‘Kafan’ of Prem Chand a great Hindi and Urdu story teller. The phrases are from real rural Garhwal and Mohan Lal Negi uses words very wisely to keep readers interest intact in the story. Mohan Lal Negi had been successful in keeping flow smooth in the story. Negi uses proverbs suiting the situation and are helpful in the characterization of characters or speed of story.
