There are fine stories about discarding older workforce, older generation and disable or handicap workforce by organization owners or society in modern literature. For example, the stage play ’Death of a Salesman ’ by Arthur Miller , a Hindi story ‘Budha Bail’ by Bhishma Kukreti come in such category. Maricel Oro-Piqueras found that in western literature the youth and vigor is considered as virtuous whereas body that looks old becomes synonymous with sterility, illness, and dependency in brilliant book ‘Ageing Corporealities in contemporary English Fiction: Redefining Stereotype’.
Mohan Lal Negi uses mule as human being for showing the discarding old or disable/handicap workforce by owners. The mule was strong and worries mast when it was child. The owner sold the mule to another owner. The new owner was happy about the strength, honesty, disciplinary habits of the mule. The other mules and horses respected the mule. When the mule became lame the owner discarded and left him.  It was difficult for the lame mule to meet the food for living. Now the lame mule was helpless and used to go in harvesting field and used to get beats.
One day, his owner was passing there but he did not talk with the mule. The mule felt very bad that he was lame while he was working for the owner but now the owner is ignoring the mule that once was star of his business.
The story is definitely symbolic and attacks on industrialization where productivity is a primary goal and when workforce becomes unproductive due to accidents the business owners don’t care for those disable workforce.
The story is one of the finest stories among modern stories about the conflicts between business owners and disable workforce.
The story is very simple and flow of the story shows the capability of Mohan Lal Negi.
