              There are many folk rites for calling or dispatching away the satanic spirit, devil, evil spirit, elfish or   demon in every society especially among old civilization. Everywhere Necromancy, Demonology, Evocation, Thaumaturgy, Hermetic, Theurgy, Theosophy, Candomble, Witchcraft,    etc were common in earlier age.  For example Paul G.Hiebert and R.D. Shaw (Understanding Folk religion); E.C.Takacs (Christian Demonology.); G. Massy (ancient Egypt) provide examples of such concepts in various old and new civilizations.

  The following is a Folk rite performed by Mantrik in Garhwal and Kumaun for taking away evil spirit from Pashwa or patient.

माता पिता गुरु देवता को आदेस,

काली काली महाकाली,

वार विथ्या देवू ताली मड़ो मसाण ,

मुगतीस उड़ान्दा मसाण को मार ,

लाड को मसाण को मार ,

बैठदा मसाण को मार ,

मणो मसाण को मार ,

काली कुखडी मंद की धार नी पाई ,

लोंगों को जोड़ा नि पाई

पान को बीड़ा नी पाई
